BDA Principal and AIGA Fellow, Frank Baseman, participated in the Fellows Award Retrospective Exhibition at the University of the Arts alongside other AIGA Philadelphia Fellows including Hans Allemann, Laurie Churchman, Ken Hiebert, Joel Katz, Lanny Sommese and Alina Wheeler. The exhibition was on display through June, 2011 at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia.

BDA Principal, Frank Baseman, was one of four judges invited to judge the AIGA Minnesota Design Show 2010 (thanks AIGA Minnesota). Met some lovely people, and saw some very nice work, including the “Alphabeasties” book and products by Werner Design Werks, Inc., which was awarded Best of Show.

BDA Principal and Associate Professor of Graphic Design Communication, Frank Baseman, delivered a lecture, “I am not (really) an Activist, and other Graphic Tales” to the Direct Encounter with the Arts classes at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI. Western Michigan was also a venue for the traveling exhibition, The Graphic Imperative: International Posters for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment, 1965–2005.

Our good friends at Grant Design Collaborative curated and selected nine projects produced by Baseman Design Associates to showcase in the new book published by Rockport Publishers, 1,000 More Graphic Elements. Baseman Design Associates received five PDA Awards in the AIGA Philadelphia Design Awards 2009 competition and exhibition. Of more than 600 projects submitted to this design competition, only 82 were accepted into the exhibition. Among the award-winning projects selected was the Frank Fellow self-promotional Brand Identity System. The PDA Awards exhibition was on display through May, 2009 at AXD Gallery in Center City, Philadelphia.

Baseman Design Associates received a Gold Award and Silver Award in the 38th Annual University and College Designers Competition. The Gold Award was in the poster category for the Christoph Niemann Lecture poster and the Silver Award was in the Going Green/Sustainable Design category for the Spring 2007 Lecture Series poster. Both projects were produced for the School of Design and Media at Philadelphia University.

BDA Principal, Frank Baseman, was the recipient of the 2008 AIGA Fellow Award from the AIGA Philadelphia Chapter. The Fellow Award of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) recognizes mature designers who have made a
significant contribution to raising the standards of excellence in practice and conduct within their local or regional design community as well as in their local AIGA chapter. The areas of education, writing, leadership and reputation, as well as the practice of design, are given equal consideration in measuring significant contribution. Read about the event.
